For some, it could the baggage we carry around with us every day. Weighing us down and causing us not to be in the moment. For others, we choose to pretend that we have it all together. You know, as women we can dress up almost anything and make it pretty.
In addition, we can also cover up almost anything and think we are fooling those around us. For example, we get up, dress up, and show up in various places throughout the day. Exhibiting a form of godliness but have no genuine love for others in our hearts. The Bible gives us clear instructions on how to handle this in 2 Timothy 3:5, "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
We have all heard the phrase you can fool some of the people some of the time, and if I may add a touch of Tonia. You can fool some of the people some of the time but God you can't fool anytime. He can see through the Michael Kors and the Donna Karan. Pretty on the outside, ugly on the inside.
It is so unfortunate that women have these experiences more often than not. For me, I have been on both sides of this coin. Yes, I've gotten up, dressed up, showed up all while torn up on the inside. I was broken into so many little pieces at one point in my life, I honestly didn't think I was going to survive. But, to God be the Glory, I am still here.
On the other side, I've gotten up, dressed up, showed up all while jacked up on the inside. I didn't want anyone to speak to me much less talk to me. At one point, I genuinely did not like people. I was a bomb waiting to explode. I am grateful though that God place at least two people in my life that helped me see me at that time. (Thank God we are still friends today!)
My sisters its time for a reality check. Don't let anything separate you from the love of God. It's alright to have issues but don't let the issues have you. In other words, address the needs before they get bigger. Remove anything in your heart that is not like God.
My challenge for you today is for you to join me as we abstain from sugar. This time I'm not talking about the food sweetener instead, I am talking about how we tend to sugar coat things, even when we know its not right. Let us engage in Godly love by being mindful of how we treat people.
Godly love helps us help people to see God through us. John 13:35 tells us, "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." Decide today to choose to express Godly love one to the other. In other words, let us learn to love others as Christ has loved us. Ephesians 5:25 gives a strict command to husbands however, I am almost certain this can apply to godly-sister. "Husbands (Sisters), love your wives (sisters), even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it."
