We all know that the word of God tells us in Isaiah 40:31, " But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." I know for many of us, waiting is one of the most difficult things we sometimes have to do. Well, let me tell you. It was for me too; until I truly begin to wait on and wait in Jesus.
I learned the hard way that waiting for God to move on my behalf really wasn't that hard. The hardest part was for me to take my hands off of something I didn't have the power to fix any way. It is funny how we as humans, the same people who have to do things more than once until we get it right; take issue in waiting on God whom we know will get it right the first time.
The reality is, we make it harder than it really has to be; and it is all because of our understanding and interpretation of the word wait. For most of us when we think of waiting, we have this picture of us sitting somewhere, twiddling our thumbs, not doing anything and watching the sky for some miraculous thing to happen. Well, that couldn't be further from the truth.
To be honest, waiting doesn't mean being still at all. Waiting simply means that we are waiting for God to deliver on His promises to us. Waiting requires us to activate a level of faith most of us are; or at least we have been afraid to activate. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 11:1, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Therefore, I order for us to be able to wait patiently for God to move, we must have a hopeful outcome.
Not only do we need to have a hopeful outcome, we must also be willing to work towards the expected end. While we are waiting; and working, God is pleased. The word of God tells us in James 2:20, ". . . . faith without works is dead" Now if you're anything like me; and I bet you are because you are reading this, anything that does not have life is not welcome in mine.
However difficult it may seem, don't get tired of waiting. Stay focused on the goal and before you know it, God will have moved on your behalf. Whatever you do, don't become stagnant and don't become distressed. Those are tricks of the enemy to try to get you to give up. I am speaking to you as a friend and as a sister, when things get tough and they most likely will; that is the perfect opportunity to wait on God.
