Like most of you, I often wonder why things happen to me. Why does it seem like I am always having to deal with something. Work through this, here comes that. Get through that and oh Lord, here we go again. Life can seem very unfair. Especially to those of us who are putting forth our very best effort to becoming and staying a better person.
We don't always understand the changes we have to go through; and we definitely don't enjoy them while we're going through. But, there is some good news. The Bible tells us in James 1:12, "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him."
I have come to the realization that someone is watching and listening to everything we say and everything we do. Therefore, it is so important for us to behave in a way that is pleasing to God. Matthew 5:15-16 tells us, "Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
It is our responsibility as Christian women to make sure we don't compromise our testimony. You see this journey that we are on is not about us. Instead, it is about those we are trying to help. Yes, the ones we know and even the ones we don't know. We have to always make sure that our walk is aligned with our talk. The Bible tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:22, "Abstain from all appearance of evil." In other words, we should always be careful. Even though there may be no ill intent if it appears to be, it can make a major difference in someone else's life.
The expectation is not to be perfect but to make continuous progress. If we depend totally on God as it is described in Philippians 4:19, "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus" this won't seem like such a daunting task.
I want to encourage you ladies not to get frustrated when you are faced with issues in life. Instead, "put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" Ephesians 6:11, and remember God's promise in Isaiah 41:10, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
