We all know the story about the three Hebrew boys from the Bible. You know, Shadrach, Meshach and Abdnego. If not, here's a little history, in one sentence. Basically, this is a story of three Jewish boys who refused to bow before a high ranking king in Babylon; and because they would not, they were thrown into a fiery furnace. My guess is the king wantd to show them who he thought was boss. Because the boys did not bow to the king, God came to their rescue. Yes, while in the middle of the fire, God was right there.
Why am I telling you this? Because at some point in all of our lives, we have been thrown into a fiery situation. Whether by choice or force, we found ourselves dealing with some unfathomable circumstances. It was then we had to make a decision. Do I really believe God is who He says He is; or am I going to give in to this situation and let people around me see me crumble.
Ultimately, the choice is ours. I will be honest and tell you, yes, there were times I did give in. But, not in the way you may be thinking. You see, I have always known and believed God is who He says He is but for me, I sometimes felt He was moving just a little bit to slow. Therefore, I began to take matters into my own hands, not giving God an opportunity to show up on my behalf.
I am grateful today that I have finally learned how to stay in my place. I am grateful that I know when God says "be still", I am going to be still. I am even more grateful that God knows I am not going to threatened by any circumstance or situation to the point it will allow me to deny Him or His power.
See, when you get to that point in life, you don't have to worry. You can be certain that Number 4 is always by your side. No matter how tough things get, Number 4 will make them soft. No matter how hot things get, Number 4 will make them cool again. Oh yeah, and don't forget no matter how overbearing someone is to you; just remember that the God we serve will soon bring them into submission. Not to you but because of you.
All I pray you take away from this today is that no matter where you are or what's going on in your life. You can be sure that Number 4 is right there and will show up, just when you need Him. Whatever you do, don't compromise!
