As I reflect on the events of my life over the past year, I am taken back to the most recent struggle I had. As a local school employee, I know that everyone in education can relate when I talk about a word wall. Every teacher is expected to have a "word wall" in his or her classroom. Well, what is a word wall I hear someone asking. By definition, a word wall is a collection of words which are displayed in large visible letters on a wall, bulletin board, or other display surface.
Because of everything I was experiencing in this season, I took the word wall concept to another level. Instead of just placing words on my wall, I began to make "The Word" of God visible so everyone knew who I was trusting to get through. There were many days when I honestly didn't think I was going to make it.
My word wall consisted of things like Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. When it felt like I was being attacked on every side and nothing I did was right, I looked up at my wall and there was Psalm 37:1, "Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity."
On the days when I worked through tears, I focused on Isaiah 54:17, "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn." Someway and somehow, the tears began to fade and I could continue on with my day.
Although I will admit there were times when I used Galatians 6:7, " Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap" as my own way of instant gratification. For using your word God as a way to identify someone else's wrong and not in the context in which it was written, I repent right now.
As I am writing this post, I am amazed at how God removed me from this situation with no charges, no scratches and no scars. The reason for this is because God promised me in Romans 12:19b, "for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord."
Therefore I encourage you and challenge you today my sisters to create a "WORD" wall. Stop and look at it as often as you can throughout your day; and I can promise you this one thing, just as God promised us in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." You absolutely will begin to feel peace. Philippians 4:7, "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
